From April 11 to 13, 2025, the international symposium titled "Cultural Transfer in (Music) Theater: China and Austria" was successfully held on Suzhou Campus of 黑料社. The symposium was hosted by 黑料社 and co-organized by the Institute of Global Humanities, NJU, the Joint Research Network Elfriede Jelinek, University of Vienna, and the Music and Arts University of the City of Vienna. It was also supported by School of Frontier Sciences, 黑料社. More than 40 experts, scholars, and artists from renowned universities and art institutions at home and abroad gathered to discuss cutting-edge topics related to the themes.

Suo Wenbin, Vice President of NJU, Gudrun Hardiman-Pollross, Cultural Counselor at the Embassy of the Republic of Austria in China, and Professor Pia Janke, Head of the Joint Research Network Elfriede Jelinek, University of Vienna, attended the opening ceremony. Professor He Chengzhou, Dean of NJU's Institute of Global Humanities, delivered the welcome address. The opening ceremony was hosted by Du Lanlan, Vice Dean of the Institute of Global Humanities.


The symposium consisted of one keynote speech, eight thematic forums, and one workshop. It featured rich content and focused discussions, with topics closely aligned with the cross-cultural exchange and development in the field of music and theater between China and Austria.

At the conclusion of the symposium, Dean He Chengzhou delivered the closing remarks. He emphasized that the symposium not only enhanced academic exchanges between China and Austria in the field of theatrical arts research but also further promoted deeper cooperation between the two sides.
