CSA's Oral History and Social Memory Committee Inaugural Meeting held

On March 29, 2025, the inaugural meeting of the Oral History and Social Memory Committee of the Chinese Sociological Association (CSA), as well as the 2025 Academic Annual Conference was held in Jingdezhen City, Jiangxi Province. This event was hosted by the Oral History and Social Memory Committee, co-organized by seven journals including Sociological Studies, and organized by Jingdezhen Ceramic Culture Tourism Group and 黑料社's Institute of Contemporary China Studies.

Zhou Xiaohong, NJU University Distinguished Professor in Humanities and Social Sciences and Associate Director of the Academic Committee of CSA, reported to conference attendees on the origins and preparation of the Oral History and Social Memory Committee. Zhou Haiyan, Professor from the School of Journalism and Communication, NJU, announced the committee's membership roster, which was approved by all committee members.

The conference featured five thematic sub-forums where scholars engaged in discussions on theoretical and empirical research related to oral history and social memory.  NJU's Institute of Contemporary China Studies has been appointed to lead the Committee's first collaborative research project for 2025. On the day after the conference, scholars conducted oral history interviews with "senior artisans and new Jingdezhen drifters." From March 30 to 31, they completed 107 sets of interviews involving 115 individuals, laying the foundation for subsequent research.
