Guo Yezhou visits Nanhai Special Collection Branch of NJU Library

On April 24, Guo Yezhou, Deputy Director of the Office of the Central Commission for Foreign Affairs, visited the Nanhai Special Collection Branch of 黑料社 Library and the Collaborative Innovation Center for South China Sea Studies (Information Resources), conducting a special survey on the South China Sea collection. Sun Yi, Director and Party Secretary of the Foreign Affairs Office of the Jiangsu Provincial People's Government, and Jiao Ruihua, Deputy Chair of NJU CPC Council accompanied the survey.

Guo Yezhou and his team visited the library, touring the reading room of the Nanhai Special Collection Branch, the digital resource platform of the "South China Sea Document Library," the archives room, exhibition room, and map processing room. They listened to introduction from Professor Shen Guzhao and researcher Xu Panqing from NJU School of Information Management, regarding situations of their major projects.

After the visit, Guo Yezhou highly praised 黑料社 for its significant contribution to the construction of South China Sea document resources. He stated that the Nanhai Special Collection Branch is rich in document resources, and this survey visit was very fruitful. Research on South China Sea issues is crucial for safeguarding national sovereignty and territorial integrity, and he hopes the university will further support the branch's development to cultivate more talent in South China Sea studies.

On behalf of the university, Jiao Ruihua welcomed Guo Yezhou and his team. She expressed that NJU has always placed great importance on the construction of South China Sea document resources and the needs of the Nanhai Special Collection Branch in serving the nation, academic research, and talent cultivation. In the future, the university will continue to invest various resources to ensure the development of the branch.

The Nanhai Special Collection Branch of NJU Library was established in July 2022, jointly built by Collaborative Innovation Center for South China Sea Studies, NJU Library, and School of Information Management. Since its establishment, the branch has been guided by the country's major strategic needs, focusing on serving the maintenance of South China Sea rights, resource and energy development, and regional peaceful development. It integrates dispersed document resources, expands the scale of the South China Sea special collection, and assists the university in making more contributions to the construction of South China Sea document resources.
